Earliest Known European Quilt

Though it’s possible it was earlier, definitive evidence indicates quilting was  introduced to Europeans by quilted armor worn by the Crusaders around 1300. The earliest known surviving piece (photos below) is the Sicilian “Tristan Quilt” from the 1300s. More information can be on the Victoria and Albert Museum website here.
