Jen Kingwell’s Halo

I’m obsessed with Jen, she hand stitches everything! I won’t be doing that, but her scrappy style is unparalleled. I fell in love with “Halo”.

I bought her book “Jenny from One Block” which has several patterns and includes paper templates. her book is available on Etsy here, but also is available widely on the web just Google it.

I bought the acrylic templates to go with the pattern, but it’s not necessary – just trace the templates included in the pattern onto mylar or card stock or something you can use over and over. Jen sells the pattern and acrylic templates as a bundle on her website, and I’ve also seen the bundle on Etsy.

This quilt is a nice entry into rounded units, and it doesn’t have to be scrappy if that’s not your thing. There are plenty of examples online of different color ways people have used to make Halo. I can’t find a video of Jen demonstrating the making of Halo, but below is a photo of the quilt she made. I love the soft scrappy look she achieved. So sweet!

I’m considering a future video demonstrating the making of Halo, I’ve reached out to make sure it’s ok with Jen as long as I don’t give away pattern measurements. Fingers crossed. I’ve got 4 blocks done at the time of this posting, it’s been on standby for a while but I’m anxious to get back to it soon.
