Scrap Management
I am at the point in my quilting journey where I need to get serious about a scrap plan. I do cut up scraps etc but without a direction or purpose, I just cut standard sizes. I want to be more purposeful about it, which means deciding what I want to make with scraps ahead of time so I can process them accordingly.
Sue is my favorite scrap quilter on YouTube, she started her channel about the same time I did – she’s “From Small Things”. She’s a true scrap quilter from Dutch country in Pennsylvania, and has unique and practical ways she puts quilts together developed over many decades of quilting. Also, she’s adorable.
Her scrap management video inspired me, I love the way she creates scrappy sections intended to be used in outside borders, quilt backs or to make an entire quilt. She puts together her scrappy sections in general color palettes, and when the opportunity arises she gathers up her prepared pieces and puts them to use. Here’s the scrap video:
