Sawtooth Star Quilt Block Pattern

Description

This traditional quilt block pattern includes 3″ (FPP), 6″ and 9″ instructions (finished sizes).

The Sawtooth Star originated by name in written form in an Ohio magazine Farm and Fireside in 1884 on the Housewife page. Check out the video for more historical information and links as well as a tutorial.

This block, however, was around decades earlier. The Quilt Index website dates multiple quilts using this block between 1800 and 1849; it’s an incredible quilt resource – check it out!
